Greetings! My name is Cecil Jang, a senior attending Chengdu International School. It is my utmost honor to serve you as the head chair of the Disarmament Commission this year.

I still vividly remember my first MUN experience. With almost no knowledge of MUN procedures, I was confused throughout the whole conference, only making one speech. I couldn’t even answer the POIs thrown to me after my speech and could only mutter some random words that came to mind.

I know there are those of you out there who share a similar experience and might be afraid to speak out. But remember that the purpose of MUN is to share your innovative thoughts, so don’t fret about engaging in this meaningful experience. My goal as a chair is to provide help to all of you, so feel free to reach out. See you all at the conference!

Hello Delegates!

My name is Joshua Smith, and I am honored to be serving as a deputy chair for this year’s TIANMUN XIII Conference.

TIANMUN is the perfect place for delegates such as you to express your ideas and solutions to the pressing issues being presented in the Disarmament Commission. I remember my first time at TIANMUN, I was in awe at how everyone worked together to create such finely crafted speeches, amendments, and resolutions.

You will be deliberating and debating over topics related to weapons and crucial international relations in this committee, so I suggest that you all dive deep into the subjects shown on the Topics page for the Disarmament Commission; this will benefit you greatly. In addition to this, I will do my best to ensure that you will all have opportunities to present your unique views and opinions.

See you all soon!

Greetings, delegates.

My name is Kenny Noh, a senior currently attending the International School of Qingdao. I am sincerely honored to serve you as the Deputy Chair of the Disarmament Commission this year at TIANMUN XIII.

Based on my experience attending multiple MUN conferences, my advice to new delegates is to be confident. At my first conference, I was stunned by the exotic environment and the aura of the formally suited people. However, as I took part in more conferences, I realized that behind the suits and formal speeches were students just like me: uncertain, improvising on the spot, and occasionally stuttering over unfamiliar acronyms.

So, don’t be intimidated. Speak up, take initiative, and trust yourself.
