ECOSOC (Head Chair)- Hyein Ra

Hello, I am Hyein Ra, a junior at International School of Tianjin (IST). This is my third year in Model United Nations, and I will be serving you as the Head Chair of the Economic and Social Council for TIANMUN 2017. If someone were to ask me to describe my first MUN experience, I would honestly refuse his or her request, saying I do not want to recall those memories related to my first conference. When I think of the words “first MUN conference,” my mind immediately triggers a set of images characterized by awkward times of silence during lobbying and merging, belligerent delegates, and unapproachable chairs. The number of placards raised after I opened myself to any and all POIs haunts me up to this day. MUN is full of intimidating moments. Yet, interestingly enough, I cannot leave MUN. I join MUN each year despite the numerous failures I have experienced because I know that as much as there are failures, there are gains. I hope that each and every one of you could become attracted to the irresistible charm of MUN and find out what you can gain from it. Good Luck!
