Honorable delegates, distinguished advisors, and esteemed guests:

My name is Wendy Cho, a sophomore at International School of Qingdao, and it is my pleasure to be serving as your Deputy Chair for TIANMUN 2017.

The prevalence of technology in today’s world makes our lives more convenient and certainly more productive than any generation before us. However, the generalization of technology had created utterly unprecedented consequences, causing numerous environmental disruptions to occur. The environmental disruptions, ranging from decline of the Artic shelf to increase in use of non-biodegradable materials and unrenewable energy, are one of the most urgent issues that should come into the spotlight of modern people. While a lot of economically developed countries are quiet familiar with measures that should be taken to protect the environment, Less Economically Developed Countries (LEDCs) are still required to pay more attention on their effort to eliminate environmental disruptions.

Dear delegates of Environment Commission, now it is your obligation to study the most controversial issues and to come to a consensus of opinion with other delegates. I hope this year’s TIANMUN conference can be a good opportunity to challenge and substantiate yourself of your own ability and power while broadening your knowledge towards many international affairs. Therefore, before stepping into the conference room, take a moment to set your own goals, whether it is to make three speeches or three POIs, and once enter the conference room, drag yourself out of comfort zone and let the exploration begin!
