Disarmament Committee (Head Chair)- Sunho Kwon

Hello, I am Sunho Kwon, a junior at Dulwich College Beijing. I have been participating in MUN for 2 years, and I am looking forward to serving you as the president of the Disarmament Committee of TIANMUN 2017. Although I am comfortable with speaking in front of a crowd by now, there was a time when I could not even finish a single sentence without pausing with an “uhh.” Before I started participating in MUN as a delegate, my shy personality dragged me down in all aspects of my life. However, it all changed after my first MUN conference two years ago. Before the conference began, my initial goal was to stay silent for the whole conference, hoping the chairs wouldn’t realize. However, I was soon influenced by the passion surrounding me as the experienced ones continued to make wonderful speeches. I took a step forward and asked my first POI; I took another step and made my first speech; I took a bigger step and made my first amendment. POIs after POIs, speeches after speeches… People probably laughed at my mistakes, and some probably even sympathized me for failing in front of a crowd. But I continued to challenge myself because I knew something most people were not aware of: It is great to make mistakes; you can only improve by making mistakes. I do not want to see anyone enthusiastically staring at the clock, waiting for the end of the conference. I want to see you all fall on the ground and proudly stand back up. I look forward to a fruitful conference!
